Smitty's Better Burger

Was told that it's a hour wait to get my food, I explained to my car hop that I have been coming hear ALL my life. So,I didn't care if I had to wait 2 hours, the great food was well worth the wait. Everyone who works here is REALLY friendly and helpful. It's my first time visiting here without my best friend, my father.

Hadn't been here since back in 2010 I believe. My boy and I use to get food from here all the time. First time back a few hours ago. YOU CANNOT BEAT THE 12 NUGGET DINNER COMBO. COMES WITH FRIES COLESLAW AND A ROLL FOR 5DOLLARS AND SOME CHANGE... NOTHING HAS CHANGED. PRICES AND FOOD ARE STILL GREAT!!!

Friendly staff. Good prices. Food is a 3. Very much like fried bar food and greasy.

Ordered 4 burgers, Onion Rings and Tater Tots. While we got fries instead of tots, everything was the best ever! Great service, and even better food. Definitely cheered me and my wife up during these stressful times. Definitely the best burgers in Hampton!Just went to Smitty's again this week. Even better this time! Chili Cheeseburgers are to die for! Definitely the best burger joint in Hampton.

We always love going to Smitty's! We have been waiting just like the rest of Hampton to come back. When my brother and his family visit we make sure to go by for a meal. The kids love playing by the gazebo. I am so glad our hometown spot is back open.

Smitty's Better Burger, back and better than ever before! As a lifelong resident of Hampton, I grew up eating Smitty's. It was a thousand times better than chain burger joints, with many options that corporate shops could only dream of! Come down today and get the better burger with cheese, portion sizes are huge and very satisfying! Our car hop was fast, friendly, and cheerful, even though it was raining when we went! I cannot recommend this small business enough, 10/10 will absolutely go again!

It was great that they opened back up. Burgers are good. I'm going back to try the rest of the menu

I visited this location years ago and i will say they was better then, then now. My bread was old and falling apart and fries was grease. No thanks

I'd give them a 3.5 if possible, because the service was excellent and fast, but maybe too fast. The construction of the burger was really sad as everything was stacked in the center. I mean everything; the onions, all pickles and tomatoes were stacked in the very center with a mote of untouched burger surrounding it. The picture I took of the burger is after I distributed the toppings.Also the quality of the beef itself I felt was lacking in that several bites contained gristle.Promptness is nice, but I would rather have the person putting the burger together take an additional 5 seconds to evenly distribute the toppings than to lackadaisically plop everything down in a pile neglecting 3/4 of the burger.I would go back again but I think I'd order a smaller burger with less beef because the flavor was excellent, or maybe something other than a burger. The menu items interest me and I'd definitely like to try everything else. The onion rings were okay

So happy they were able to reopen after the fire. Always love the curb side service. Our waitress was friendly and food was as great as we remembered. Love it!

Love the car hops! Let the ladies know you want to eat there and they bring you a tray to hang off your window!

It's always good to come home to Hampton and stop by Smitty's. So glad they opened again. I had the Turkey Burger and The Onion rings and it was all nice fresh and hot. Love you guys!!

Used to be a regular stop when I lived in Hampton VA. Too far from Richmond to go just for a cheeseburger or a BBQ, but boy is it so worth it!! Used to be anyway. Good prices too. Nice to sit in your car in a summer evening and have dinner brought to your car, and the tray taken away later. Cool place.

Kinda pricey for what you get. I don't know why i remember it being better before they burned down. The burger to bun ratio is a bit depressing too. I don't know maybe I'm too picky but ummm i doubt it.

Decent, cheap food. Stay away from that flounder sandwich,...it tastes like a hockey puck. Fried chicken is pretty good with fries, staff really nice and accommodating.

We went here years ago and decided to go back and try it out again this weekend. I got the better burger and tator tots with cheese. The burger was OK but not great. The tator tots were not as good as I remember and Sonic is better. My husband got the fried chicken breasts and onion rings. He said all of his food was amazing. I tried the fried chicken and it was awesome and we would order it again. Apparently I ordered the wrong items. The 3 stars is for his food. My food was lacking. The service was slow and it took about 30+ minutes to get our food. It could have been due to the chicken cooking though. It took over 5 minutes to get a fork and that required my husband getting out of the vehicle and going to the door. The parking lot was not packed. I do have to say the lady was friendly. Our order was correct as well. If we are in the area we will maybe go back to the chicken again. I might would try something else or get the chicken breasts myself this time.

Well I’m new to Hampton Virginia. Came along way from Massachusetts. Moved close near about 2 years ago. I love the service and food. The waffle fries and the burgers are spot on. This is not just your local restaurant. This place is special and has many unique flavors and choices. I come here for lunch everyday. I love it!!!

I love the wide variety of good food and the history of Smitty's. I got heartbroken when it burned down and there was talk of not building it back. Smitty's is a icon, so when they rebuilt and opened for business. The place was jammed pack! I love my Smitty's and so does everybody else!😊❤

This place been here forever... And still as good as the first time I had it... Super Better Burger with the works... And beer batter onion rings...!! Keep up the good work!!

Best burger joint in Hampton!!! Prices are right and the food is unbelievable. The resturant operates like an old school drive in which means you do not even get out of your car. I love this place A+

Great hot dogs great service too..just no milk shakes

I can always depend on great service and great food from Smity's. Service is generally pretty quick, depending on the time of day. Their Hot Italian sausage is absolutely amazing, especially with peppers and onions. The BLT is a perfect sandwich along side their seasoned waffle fries or battered onion rings. The BBQ chicken sandwich is also hand battered and fried by order so no premade tender there!

This place has 1950's style drive in food. If you are looking for the taste you remember from childhood. This place has it. The food is a simple yet comforting drive in style affair. The hot dogs give you the nostalgic taste that you remember. Definitely recomend trying this place if you are looking for a drive in experience. With excellent service and food reminiscent of the 1950. Then look no farther. This is that place.

Classic Local drive-in. Great food and service, so happy they got to reopen in a timely manner, even though the locals would have been patiently waiting!

This place is awesome and very open. I couldn't believe how gracious the existing staff were. They brought me this tangible burger that entered my stomach post-chewing. The other customers that were definitely there were all conversing with each other about how full the restaurant was. I would 100% recommend coming here, if not just to enjoy the building. Bring a friend.

First time back since the fire...! Just as awesome as ever... maybe a little better even. You just cannot beat the value... Delicious food, nostalgic atmosphere, friendly staff!

If there is anyone out there, that has Not heard of Smitty's, and/or have not been to Smitty's, I Highly recommend the next time you want to eat - out Go To Smitty's! They have the best juiciest, tastiest burgers in Virginia! And if burgers isn't your thing,they have a huge selection of food, ranging from hot dogs to Pork barbecue! In the 45 years I've been eating there I've tried everything,a don't once was I ever disappointed!

The super burger is indeed super-sized. It was very tasty and the flavor was great. Eat it there though because burgers and tots do not travel well.

Was disappointed. I have always loved Smittys but the Laat 2 times either they ran out of product or it was not as delicious as before .

First visit today. Fried chicken is made to order and comes out steaming hot. Took about 20 minutes but it was really good and stays crispy for a long while. Maybe see if you can order ahead. Not greasy. The place was packed even during the rain.

The food and the prices are good. The shrimp dinner was really good, even without cocktail sauce. The only downside is they are really busy, so sometimes it takes a while for your waitress to come back.

Baby they back and in full force...I'm mad I had to wait just to get in the parking lot for the lady beside me to say "it's a five hour wait" and me to drive off without any Smittys....but all of the waiting for what seemed like an eternity. I had the wings with some corn fritters and that smack me sauce....ok not really the name but it does it justice...cant wait till payday

So excited they are back open, the food is still delicious. Although it was jam packed the 2 times I went it was worth the wait and the service was excellent. I have to bow to the waitresses they work their buts off.i live down the street and every time I passed by it was really packed.

Lol. There's nothing special or unique to eat or drink here (okay, the Twirly Dogs are amusingly fun). But it's the nostalgia that makes it worth coming back over and over again. Prices are indeed affordable and the carhops are simply adorable. Shout out to Mrs Virginia!

Wonderful place. Hope its open during the virus scare. I'm coming to Hampton this weekend.
